About us

VISIT THE MAINLAND

Our favourite things to do on the mainland. From a few hours to full days out, there’s plenty to explore and just a 10 minute boat ride from Kerrera Marina.

Adventuring

The adventures aren’t just restricted to Kerrera. Here are some of our favourites…

Tralee beach out at Benderloch is a wonderful long sandy beach to explore at your own pace, while Sutherlands Grove has some amazing woodland walks and bike rides to get your heart going.

For some elevation, Ben Lora is a great wee hill that rewards you with the most beautiful views out over Mull and Lismore.

For those looking to swim, Easdale Island and its beautiful slate quarry pools is a great place to explore and swim.

ACTIVITIES

Looking for a slightly different type of watersport? Try Vertical Descents cayonning at Onich or Kinlochleven. They also have an amazing via ferrata up the Grey Mares Tail waterfall in Kinlochleven which will definitely get the adrenaline pumping!

eating

It doesn’t take long to snuffle out some great eating places in Oban. For great local food try the famous Green Shack on the South pier for a seafood bonanza. A must do in our opinion!

Argyll’s cafe do the best tattie scone and fried egg roll ever, while Taste of Argyll Kitchen also do a great breakfast.

Hinba and the The Chocolate Shop are the best places for a great coffee or hot chocolate, although you will not be able to resist the cakes and homemade chocolates!

The Olive Garden is a great restaurant as is Coast and the Waterfront. All of which are within 100 metres of the north pier and all of which use the best of fresh local ingredients and share our passion for good local food.

Most importantly, for the ultimate in ice cream either (other than at Balliemore Farm) pop into Highland Folds ice cream parlour in Oban and try one of the beautiful ice creams – all freshly made and just delicious!

A little further afield but so worth the journey is Lucys in Ardfern – another of our food heroes who take local ingredients and use some sort of magical witchery to create the most amazing food.

SHOPPING

For organic fruit and veg, try Go Naked fruit and veg shop. They also sell a range of refillable detergents, shampoos etc and plastic free household essentials. Everything you’ll need for your adventures on the West Coast.

Food from Argyll and Taste of Argyll offer an amazing array of produce from around Argyll and as an added bonus they also sell an array of local crafts.

Millstone Wholefoods are a great health food shop and Alba Kitchen Garden sell some fantastic cheeses and other goodies.

For fresh fish you either have The Green Shack on the north pier or Watts Fishmongers, also on the north pier.

For an online farmers market option try the Great British food hub. There are all sorts of local producers selling some amazing local produce, collection day is Thursday – we can help arrange collecting your orders if needed.
